So Irene came and went. Maybe some other time we will talk about all the fun things that happened, like the tornado warnings that were steadily moving northwest from the shore area toward my area, and how Casa Buneke lost power in the middle of the warnings. Or how we decided to take the cats with us when we evacuated the home, carrying them through the rain to our car. Or how we were up until 3:30 a.m. watching the news.
But for now, here are some pictures of the post-Irene damage:
Fortunately we are fine: our power was restored within 24 hours; our basement has less than an inch of standing water, and it doesn’t cover the entire floor; there was zero damage to our property. We are grateful for our good fortune, and are thinking tonight of all those who had it worse than us.
