Charting

I started this blog back in June, when I was considering switching away from JournalSpace. I’ve decided to stay with JournalSpace, but I’m going to continue using this blog as a place to do some poetry charting.

I saw on this blog what seemed to be a listing of all the poems the blog owner has read in a year. So I decided to do a similar thing, both for poems and for books. I’ll just be editing the same postings over and over again – one for poems and one for books – because it’s just easier that way. And I’m lazy. So there.

2006 charting began in June.
Here is the poetry charting.
Here is the book charting.

2007 charting began in January.
Here’s the poetry for 2007.
And the books for 2007.
And another category: poetry/literary journals for 2007.

  1. Hi – thanks for the link – thanks too for making your lists.

A couple notes: I’m interested to know where you read the poems on your “poetry charting” list. Also, I should mention (only to mention! please don’t change a thing) that I’ve been making lists of the poems I’ve liked. I’ve also started putting together little anthologies of the poems I like best each year. Here are the working tables of contents of a couple of them: 2005, 2006.

Anyway, hope you don’t mind my commenting here. Happy reading.

  2. Hi Jordan,
Thanks for stopping by! Of course I don’t mind the comments.

I originally had these lists hosted on my website, and had the sources there – I’m hoping to get those sources updated here as well. I can tell you off the top of my head a few places – the most recent issue of Poetry magazine, issue 19 of Columbia Poetry Review, and NPR’s The Writer’s Almanac.

I’m going to continue charting what I’ve read, though I may (only may) start to include comments on each poem. Or some of the poems. Or none at all.

Anyway, thanks for your comments. It’s a cool thing you got me started on here!
